Troubleshooting Hints for FieldFox Data Link Software

The following references to the FieldFox User's Guide. Unless noted otherwise, the references are in the "FieldFox Data Link Software" sections of the User's Guide.

You are able to start the Data Link application successfully, but the application is not able to communicate with the FieldFox over the LAN.

  • In the User's Guide, make sure you have completed either "Connect a PC to the FieldFox - both connected to the Internet" or "Direct connection using a LAN cable", whichever is appropriate.
  • The following items assume you are in the Keysight Connection Expert (ACE) after you have set up the LAN connection to the FieldFox per the instructions in the Data Link section of the User's Guide.
  • Open Keysight Connection Expert (ACE) by double clicking on the "IO" icon near the bottom right corner of the PC display.
  • The FieldFox instrument should only show up under a Remote GPIB interface. Delete the FieldFox instrument if it shows up under any other interface.
  • The FieldFox instrument should have a green check mark on it to indicate it is ready to go.
  • For any other instruments under any of the interfaces, if they don't have a green check mark then right click on the instrument and set to Ignore.
  • If the Data Link software still doesn't work as expected, then try the next step.
  • In ACE, set all instruments under any interface (except for FieldFox) to Ignore.
