Ensuring PCIe® 5.0 device interoperability requires certification of transmitter compliance as required by the PCI-Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG®). The card electromechanical specification (CEM) form factor provides guidance for this testing using the physical test (PHY) specification. Developers conduct physical layer testing, data link layer testing, and general interoperability testing to reach PCI-SIG®-approved compliance.
PCIe 5.0 transmitter testing encompasses physical layer signal quality and transmitter equalization tests. Use a high-bandwidth oscilloscope to measure test patterns sent by the device and compare them to the PCIe 5.0 compliance test specifications. This test requires specialized signal integrity and jitter measurement software.
