Keysight Distributed Infrastructure (KDI) is a comprehensive solution that ensures seamless and secure communication within a dedicated network environment called the KDI Fabric. In a KDI Fabric, KDI Root is a node equipped with KDI Root software that takes charge of secure communication, connecting, and overseeing all other KDI Leaf nodes. It serves as the central control point for managing the fabric through a user-friendly tool, KDI Management UI. On the other hand, a KDI Leaf node represents any device, be it an instrument, a test station, or a PC equipped with the KDI Leaf software enabling them to communicate with KDI Root and facilitating discoverability.

Keysight Distributed Infrastructure (KDI) 2024 Update 1
New Features:
- Added functionality for generating and validating tokens from the local node. A KDI node, whether connected to a KDI Root or not can now issue an authentication token for a pin and validate it.
- Upgraded KDIG to pass tokens to the fabric. The fabric KDIS can now use fine-grained authentication to control access from KDIG.
Enhancements:
- Added node and fabric information to the KDI management UI when viewing the fabric.
Defect fixes:
- Fixed incorrect status shown in KDI management UI when viewing KDIG connections.
- Fixed the lack of feedback in the management UI when the wrong credentials are used or the service is disconnected.
- Fixed an issue where the KDIS installer could generate an invalid database key.
- Fixed an issue where failure to re-key the database for upgrades would cause KDIS to become non-functional.

Enhancements:
- KDIS APIs are now accessible through the KDIG endpoint
- kdim-realm and adminui-realm are now merged, with this
- The Permissions field is now operational. When the value is set to "isAdmin," it indicates that the user possesses administrative privileges. Conversely, an empty string or any other value designates the user as a regular user.
- Users with their permission set to "isAdmin" have access to KDIS APIs
- When creating an initial user, you will observe only one entry in the Fabric Users screen, reflecting the unified kdim-realm and adminui-realm.
- Note: During the upgrade process, adminui-realm credentials lacking a corresponding kdim-realm pair will be transitioned to kdim-realm.
- Additionally, these credentials will be granted the "isAdmin" permission, ensuring a seamless integration of administrative privileges within the unified realm structure.
Enhanced KDI Management UI:
- New buttons added in the Remote Users screen:
- Promote - to provide admin access to the federated identities/ remote users
- Demote - to revoke admin privileges from the federated identities/ remote users

KDI 3.3 allows you to provide configuration settings during the installation process
Enhancements:
Standardized the KDI.YAML configuration fields to snake_case, separating each word by an underscore ('_'). For example, 'isroot' is now changed to 'is_root'.
Transitioned the database used in the KDIG cloud from SQLite to Postgres.
