Introduction
This data sheet provides key features and specifications for the fully automated DisplayPort (DP) and DP Alt Mode on USB Type-C cable compliance test software automation with Keysight vector network analyzer (VNA) and L8990M switch matrices system.
The Keysight S94DPPCB DisplayPort DP cable compliance test software provides a fast and automated way to test, characterize and debug your DisplayPort design to meet compliance. When connects with L8990M switch matrices, it enables 4-to-20 ports of switching without manual port reconnection for full compliance automation testing. It makes measurements in minutes with just a few simple steps and decreases test time up to 90%.
The test plans performed by the S94DPPCB compliance test software are based on the latest Display Port and DP Alt Mode on USB Type-C specification released by Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).
Flexible Test Configurations
S94DPPCB supports a wide range of VNA and test configurations to meet your test requirements and price point. It can run on a 4-port VNA within the bench (ENA/ENA-X/PNA) or on an external PC. For multi-port configurations using a 4-port VNA and L8990M switch matrices system, it enables full automation without manual cable and port reconnections.
Easy and Fast Test Flow Analysis
The test sequencer is based on Keysight PathWave Test Automation Platform (TAP) KS8400B software which provides fast execution and test flow analysis that optimize your overall test performance.
The intuitive setup panel allows the user to select a test plan by device under test (DUT) type with the normative requirement will be checked by default. This makes compliance test verification simple with a faster turnaround time. The compliance tests are based on the latest compliance test specification (CTS) with deep technical knowledge and first hands details from Keysight experts who sit on industry standards committees (VESA and USB-IF).
In addition, the compliance test software will intelligently perform test optimization by removing the redundant test port switching on test items with similar port connections. This will further improve the test throughput and overall test time.
Setup Wizard with Guided Connection
S94DPPCB compliance software comes with a simple and intuitive setup wizard to guide you through the test setups, including system calibration and switch matrices de-embedding. When running with a multi-port configuration, the switch matrices characterization wizard will provide guided steps and a connection diagram to perform the complex multi-port calibration in a quick and easy way. De-embedding of switch matrices is run automatically to extract and remove unwanted paths on switch matrices path and test cables to ensure highly accurate test results. The calibration files can be saved for the subsequent run to ease redundant setup time.
Key parameters like frequency range, resolution, and windowing are automatically set to optimum to maximize your test performance, making test system setup easy and error-free.
Test Fixture De-embedding with AFR
The test fixture setup includes test fixture characterization that allows you to measure single-ended 2X Thru and perform Automatic Fixture Removal (AFR) to maximize your measurement accuracy. The single-ended 2X Thru AFR function is complimentary as part of an S94DPPCB software feature without an additional license needed. You can now select your test fixture and measure to generate the fixture’s S2P files for de-embedding anytime you need and transfer them to VNA to enable the de-embedding process within the same TAP software platform.
Automation of Compliance Test Tools
The compliance test requirements for DisplayPort and DP Alt Mode at UHBR speed rate are much more complex compared to previous HBR generations. It is designed to pursue the USB4 Gen4 passive cable performance requirements. Similar to USB4 Gen 4/Gen 3 Type-C, DisplayPort UHBR introduces a newhigh-speed signal’s integrated S-parameter tests. To compile integrated S-parameters results, a new Matlab-based compliance test tool called Get_iPar.exe is required. Another compliance test tool called IntePar_DP.exe remains to cover DP8K high-speed signal tests. The introduction of compliance test tools brought additional test time on manual setup and tool processing.
To resolve customer pain points, S94DPPCB compliance test software has integrated both Get_iPar.exe and IntePar_DP.exe compliance test tools for full compliance test automation. With this breakthrough feature, manual and tedious processes on S4P touchstone files export, Matlab tool execution, and manual verdict verifications can be reduced. The S94DPPCB compliance test software will conduct the S4P measurements and execute the pass/fail verdict by calling-out relevant USB-IF compliance test toolsbased on your DUT. Test raw data (S4P files), result tables, and waveform diagrams of the compliance test tool will be consolidated and published into the HTML test report which allows result analysis in a simpler manner.
