5G new radio (NR) Rel-16 base station transmitter conformance testing at high frequencies, such as millimeter-wave (mmWave), requires a test system that reduces excessive path loss, wideband noise, and frequency errors. The test system must include a low-noise amplifier (LNA) at the front-end of the signal analyzer (spectrum analyzer), as well as a preamplifier to reduce the system noise figure and optimize the mixer's input level.
The test system’s two-stage gain balances noise and distortion for optimizing the low input-level measurement performances. 5G base station transmitter test requires accurate and reliable signal analysis in accordance with the 5G NR Rel-16 standard, for both frequency range 1 (FR1) and FR2 applications.
