System Building Block
Genesys Spectrasys is a powerful RF system simulator that provides RF system architects with unique root cause analysis to quickly diagnose RF analog effects such as origins of unexpected spurious that are difficult or impossible to characterize with other methods. It overcomes key limitations of spreadsheets, math & DSP software, and circuit simulators. These traditional approaches have limited model sets, ignore RF effects (such as impedance mismatches) entirely, and are very difficult to isolate and diagnose problems that cause poor system specs.
Spectrasys utilizes a spectral-domain simulation technique created specifically for RF system simulation and diagnosis called SPARCA – Spectral Propagation And Root Cause Analysis. This diagnostic capability is not found in other RF system architecture tools. It analyzes and retains the individual contributions and propagation paths for every harmonic and intermodulation product in the system.
Spectrasys integrates with circuit synthesis, circuit simulation, optimization, statistics, and EM simulation. It now comes with sweep plots to quickly identify and track spurious signals in swept analysis of multi-conversion systems. It also incorporates breakthrough nonlinear X-parameters simulation technology for convenient and accurate system design with nonlinear X-parameter models of system blocks such as amplifiers, mixers or transceiver RFICs.
WhatIF is an interactive frequency planning tool for choosing a set of Intermediate Frequencies (IFs) to maximize system performance with minimal filtering and design margins. It overcomes the problem in picking intermediate frequencies (IF) due to the sheer number of mixing product permutations from frequency conversion that must be analyzed in both frequency and amplitude to avoid unwanted harmonics, or spurs. WhatIF not only performs these exhaustive mixing product computations, but also presents the data graphically to identify the locations of spur free frequency bands and amplitudes of spurious products on a single convenient plot. By hovering the mouse over the plot, the origins of spurious mixing products are interactively shown, allowing for fast, insightful and optimal frequency planning.
