Mobile World Congress 2024: Pushing the Boundaries of Wireless Innovations
Keysight is again attending Mobile World Congress 24 (MWC) in Barcelona. The annual event is the most influential mobile and telecommunications gathering on the calendar. This year, we’re excited to unveil a suite of innovative solutions aiding organizations in their quest to push the boundaries of engineering by quickly solving design, emulation, and test challenges.
So, what can you expect to see? Our wireless portfolio enables advanced use cases, reduces risk, and speeds time to market. At MWC, we’ll showcase how to expand wireless communications reach with non-terrestrial networks (NTN), achieve extreme next-generation connectivity, and pioneer 6G research with AI and machine learning.
What innovations will Keysight focus on at Mobile World Congress 2024?
Accelerating 5G
- NTN Sky-to-Lab Emulation: The Keysight sky-to-lab is the most advanced solution spanning simulation, emulation, and testing for NTN systems and devices. The demo features three use cases showing how to build reliable 5G NTNs, Long Term Evolution NTN unmodified direct-to-cell handsets, and operator acceptance.
- Wi-Fi® 7 and Extended Reality (XR): With existing Wi-Fi networks stretched, it’s crucial to test new stations and access points to validate radio frequency performance, scheduling choices, and optimization. The Keysight UXM Wireless Connectivity Test Platform supports both Wi-Fi 7 and 5G. Additionally, Keysight’s Eggplant automation software, which uses AI with a synthetic human, will demonstrate how to achieve fully robotic and repeatable test automation of new Wi-Fi and 5G XR devices.
6G Innovation
- Enabling 6G FR3 Channel Emulation: Keysight’s AI-assisted radio channel emulation solutions accelerate the development and evaluation of complex 6G technologies. The MWC demo will show how to address accurate modeling needs in 6G system simulations, digital twins, and real-time RbnF channel emulation.
- AI / ML & Sensing in 6G: Keysight will show how to use its Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software in technology research. This demo integrates AI / ML signal processing models and verifies the performance of the algorithms with a real hardware connection in an over-the-air system.
Open RAN AI / ML & Security
- As the deployment of Open RAN networks increases, new challenges and opportunities are emerging. Keysight will unveil multiple demos highlighting how to maximize network performance with AI/ML, reduce energy consumption, secure the network, and increase resilience.
Partnership Initiatives
In addition, we will unveil a handful of joint initiatives with customers, including:
Qualcomm: Advanced NTNs
This demo will showcase video calls with Qualcomm's 5G mobile test platform, with the support of satellite handovers (NTN-NTN) to ensure service continuity and seamless integration with terrestrial networks. It provides a glimpse into Release 18 5G-Advanced mobility featuring complex low-Earth-orbit and high-velocity Doppler test scenarios with multiple satellites.

NVIDIA: 6G AI Neural Receiver Designs
Together, we've created a complete design flow for training and validating neural receivers featuring an Open RAN testbed augmented by a multi-user MIMO neural receiver provided by NVIDIA. Using NVIDIA Sionna library to train the neural receiver, ray-traced channels allow for site-specific training data generation, and the creation of digital twins accelerates the time to market. This provides the solutions and insights needed to move AI into the mainstream for wireless communications and support the rollout of 6G.

InterDigital: Validate AI in 6G
This collaboration shows how AI channel estimators can be trained, added to a 6G physical layer, and validated at a system level with an over-the-air system. This allows us to further hone our solutions to aid our customers as they push the boundaries of the possibilities when AI and wireless are combined.
